ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Anderson County deputies said a woman was rescued as she fought to stay afloat in the Saluda River on Saturday.

Deputies were called out near Osteen Hill Road around 3:30 p.m. after a woman tried to cross a river on a fallen tree and fell into the water.

Deputies said the woman was unable to swim or get out of the river.

Deputies said someone heard the woman's cries for help and called 911. Deputies said they could hear her screams as they approached and found her 15' from shore, unable to stand or make it land.

Two deputies waded into the water to rescue her, using another tree limb to pull her to safety.

The woman was not injured, deputies said.
