SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg police said a man died after his girlfriend shot him with a shotgun on Monday.

Police said the shooting happened at the Crown Pointe Apartments on Powell Mill Road about 5:45 p.m.

When they arrived, police said they found the victim, 20-year-old David Moholland, shot to death and three other people inside at the time.

Moholland and his girlfriend, 21-year-old Erika Sutelman, were staying at the apartment with another couple, police said.

Officers said Sutelman admitted to shooting Moholland with a shotgun. According to the police report, Sutelman said they were playing around with the gun and she thought the safety was on when she pulled the trigger, but it wasn't. Police said Moholland was hit once in the chest.

She was arrested and charged with murder.
