Deputies: Teen arrested after throwing rocks at school buses

Posted: Updated:

Deputies said they arrested a 16-year-old who threw rocks at two school buses, which the drivers thought were gunshots.

Greenville County deputies said on May 17 an older model blue Chevy pickup truck passed two school buses along Highway 414 in Landrum.

Deputies said as the truck passed them both drivers heard what they thought was a gunshot. They pulled the buses over to inspect for damage, which deputies said was soon discovered to be from a rock, not bullets.

The rock thrower was identified through witnesses' statements and later arrested, deputies said.

The rock left damage to the driver's side window, according to a spokesperson with Greenville County Schools.
