HENDERSONVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies said they arrested an East Flat Rock man who, with the help of a 15-year-old, allegedly stole metal then sold it to a recycling facility to make money.

Henderson County deputies said 42-year-old Philip Stanford stole metal wood stoves, other steel plates and scrap medal then sold it to a local metal recycling plant with the help of the teen.

The metal was stolen from across the county then sold, knowing the items were stolen, deputies said.

Stanford was arrested and charged with three counts of misdemeanor larceny, two felony counts of obtaining money by false pretenses and two felony counts of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. Deputies said more charges could be filed against him.

Deputies said the teen would be required to appear in juvenile court on petition.
