Kelly Owens and Clifford Owens (May 27, 2013/Spartanburg Co. Sheriff's Office)
SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -
A drug bust at a Spartanburg County home led to the discovery of methamphetamine, and a woman admitting she was a "bad mother," according to deputies.
According to the report from the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office, deputies were at a house on Oak Street serving a warrant Sunday when the discovery of the drugs was made.
Deputies were serving a warrant on Clifford Owens, authorities said.
Upon arriving at the home, deputies made contact with a child who said Owens was not home, and added that her mother "had told her in a text message to stay out of the closet upstairs," according to the report.
Deputies went upstairs and to the closet and a crawl space and discovered materials consistent with making meth, authorities said.
Clifford Owens was found sleeping in the home and arrested, according to deputies.
Also arrested at the home was Kelly Owens. Deputies said she denied knowing about the meth-making materials, but her story was not consistent.
When asked if she had a prior history with meth, Kelly Owens "stated she was a bad mother," according to the report.
Both Clifford and Kelly Owens remained at the Spartanburg County Jail on Monday evening.
