SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Spartanburg man and Tennessee fan said a Gamecock fan attacked his car with spray paint.

The Volunteer told FOX Carolina he walked outside to find his car covered in spray paint supporting the University of South Carolina and former Gamecock Marcus Lattimore.

The man called Spartanburg police on Thursday to report the crime. According to the police report, the man's Cadillac was parked in his Brawley Street backyard about 6 p.m. Wednesday and the damage was discovered about 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

Whoever spray painted the man's car wrote "Gamecocks," "USC" and "ML #21" along with an expletive involving "UT" on it.

The man told FOX Carolina he thinks the fan vandalized his car because he or she was upset at Lattimore's knee injury during the game against Tennessee.

"I'm Tennessee born and raised, but if I knew this would happen, I would have been a Gamecock fan," Darryl Miller joked.

Miller said everyone knows he is a UT fan, with hats placed in his back window. Miller grew up playing basketball in Tennessee, where he was Tennessee Mr. Basketball in 1989 at Oak Ridge High School.

Anyone with information about the damage is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
