ATV driver killed after hitting deer

UNION, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Troopers said a man died after his ATV collided with a deer along a Union County dirt road.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol said the 38-year-old man was riding the four-wheeler along John Meador Road when he collided with a deer.

The man was not wearing a helmet and was thrown from the ATV, troopers said. They said the man was taken to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center where he later died.

Union County Coroner William Holcombe identified the man as Walter Davis, of Union. He said the accident happened near Davis' home.
