GREER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greer police hope someone will recognize a man they said robbed a local video gaming store at knifepoint.

Police said the robber held up the Game Stop on East Wade Hampton Boulevard just before 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

The man entered the store and asked about traded games while browsing for a few minutes before approaching the counter and demanding the money from the registers, police said.

One employee said the man pulled out a black-handled, folding knife with a silver serrated blade about 2" to 3" in length, then asked for the cash from two registers because the first didn't have enough, according to the police report.

The other employee said he heard the robber say something like, "I'm having hard times, I need the cash in the registers," the report stated.

The robber told the two clerks to walk to the back of the store as he ran out, police said. Investigators said he got away with $263.

The man was described as about 5'8" to 5'10" tall, weighed about 150 to 160 pounds, was about 35 to 40 years old, had brown and gray medium-length hair, light stubble and was wearing a large black T-shirt, light jeans or khakis and tan boots, police said.

Surveillance video showed the man run out of the store and into a Chevy pickup truck, police said. The report described the truck as an older model S-10, possibly green or green-blue, with a sliding back window.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Greer police at 864-848-5353.
