A registered sex offender who failed to check in with local law enforcement was arrested in Seneca on Tuesday, according to deputies.
Oconee County deputies said Ronnie Joe Patterson Jr., 34, ran away from deputies earlier in May when they tried to arrest him on failing to register as a sex offender first offense and two driving-related offenses.
Investigators received a tip that Patterson was at a home on Curtis Drive where they found him about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, deputies said. Deputies said Patterson tried to hide under a camper but was arrested.
According to his warrant, Patterson is required to register quarterly but failed to check in July 2012. The warrant said Patterson last registered as a sex offender April 12, 2012.
Patterson was convicted of assault with intent to commit criminal sex conduct first degree in 2002, according to the State Law Enforcement Division's online records.
