ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Asheville police said a man's body was pulled from the French Broad River Monday afternoon.

A fisherman called authorities after spotting the body near a railroad tressel near Emma Street.

Police blocked off Emma Street for most of the afternoon while officers worked to remove the body from the water.

A police captain said an autopsy will be conducted Wednesday to identify the remains, which they believe belong to a 50-year-old African-American man.
