GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Three downtown Greenville stores along the same block of North Main Street were broken into Monday night and early Tuesday morning, according to police.

Greenville Police Department spokesperson Johnathan Bragg said officers were called to Cochran Jewelers at 11:40 p.m. where they found the front window busted and several pieces of jewelry stolen.

Then less than three hours later, police said they responded to another burglary call at Greenville Gem Mine, just a few doors down from Cochran's.

When officers arrived at the gem store, the suspect was still inside, Bragg said. He said the man had a hammer, pry bar and items from the store on him.

Bragg said a witness spotted the man looking into the store before the alarm went off.

When officers searched his apartment, Bragg said they found items stolen from Cochran's and the Beaded Frog, which had also been broken into.

The suspect, identified as Tommy Bailey, 59, was arrested on three counts of second-degree burglary and possession of burglary tools, according to Bragg.
