GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A four-vehicle crash on Interstate 385 sent a Greenville County deputy to the hospital and brought rush hour traffic to a halt Tuesday evening.

Troopers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol says a Simpsonville man was speeding down the Southbound lane of the interstate in a Ford Explorer when he crashed into the deputy's cruiser. Troopers say the impact from that crash caused a series of rear-end collisions where the deputy struck another car's rear bumper, and that car struck another, in turn.

Troopers say the deputy was hurt in the crash and transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital. No other injuries were reported.

Troopers say the driver of the Explorer, who initially hit the deputy, was cited for driving too fast for conditions.

There's no word on the deputy's condition.
