Deputies said a Laurens woman was arrested after she and her newborn daughter tested positive for three types of drugs on Wednesday.

Laurens County deputies were called to a local hospital after the test results came in. Deputies said the child was born on Tuesday.

The Department of Social Services places the child in emergency protective custody and her mother, 23-year-old Candace Shaw, was arrested, deputies said.

Shaw was charged with unlawful neglect of a child.
