BREVARD, NC (FOX Carolina) -

A western North Carolina camp said a van carrying several campers crashed Monday on the way to a rock climbing trip.

Camp SOAR's Chief Financial Officer Catey Terry said the van had eight students and two counselors on board when it crashed along Fire Service Road 475B.

Terry said about 10:30 a.m., the van left the road and went down an embankment, but the driver was not ticketed.

She said first responders rescued everyone inside. Terry said a student and counselor were treated for minor injuries and released.

All of the students headed back to camp in good spirits, Terry said. She said SOAR appreciated first responders and law enforcement who responded so quickly.

According to its website, SOAR (Success Oriented Achievement Realized) offers a success-oriented, high adventure program for preteens, teens and adults with learning disabilities ADHD.
