GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A driver died after crashing into a utility pole along a Greenville County road Thursday morning, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Troopers said just before 2:30 a.m. a 2001 Ford was headed east on Blacks Drive when the car ran off the left side of the road along a curve.

The car crashed into a utility pole and the driver was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital by ambulance, troopers said.

The driver later died at the hospital. Deputy Coroner Barry Wright said 21-year-old Gregory Myers, of Greer, died from blunt force trauma. He said Myers was wearing his seatbelt.

No other vehicles were involved in the wreck, according to the Highway Patrol.
