GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenville County deputies said they evacuated some neighboring trailers after a report of an older man armed with a gun in a local neighborhood.

Jonathan Smith with the Greenville County Sheriff's Office said they received a call respond to a trailer at 116 Sulphur Springs Dr. from a family member reporting a man with the gun at 11:46 a.m.

Deputies said when they arrived at the mobile home, they learned a 61-year-old man was being disruptive inside and was in possession of a firearms.

Deputies were not able to make contact with the man, so they evacuated nearby homes and brought in the SWAT team to assist, according to Deputy Drew Pinciaro.

Pinciaro said the man finally spoke with dispatchers on the phone and voluntarily surrendered about an hour later. He was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
