PHOENIX (CBS5) -

An igloo-type cooler found in a trash bin at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport triggered an evacuation of Terminal 4's ticket counter early Monday afternoon, police said.

A passenger threw it into the trash after discovering the item couldn't be carried onto the aircraft, officers said.

Phoenix police ordered passengers and staff to evacuate the counter area and blocked it off. The bomb squad was deployed and determined the object was harmless.

Operations returned to normal a short time later.

Terminal 4 serves US Airways, Southwest Airlines, Aeromexico, Air Canada, AirTran, British Airways and WestJet.

No other information was available.
