BREVARD, NC (FOX Carolina) -

A jewelry store in Brevard, NC, was robbed of about $25,000 worth of merchandise on Saturday without the use of guns or weapons, according to police.

The thieves entered the store in two groups around closing time, said Tracy Love, part owner of Love's Jewelry Store. Police said by the time they left, the group had stolen $25,000 worth of merchandise without being noticed.

The groups worked together to distract the employees, according to Lt. Steve Woodson of the Brevard police.

"They've really practiced it. They have experience doing this type of crime before," Woodson said.

One of the groups worked to open a jewelry display, then a member of the second group reached into the display, grabbed jewelry and walked out of the store, according to Woodson.

Woodson said the group even used a prop to distract employees.

"The lady here is carrying a dog, and she used that as an excuse for the employees to hand her things," Woodson said.

The robbery was later discovered on surveillance footage, according to police.

Brevard police is asking for help identifying the suspects. They can be reached at 828-883-2212.
