Mitchell Orr and Kristin Orr (Oconee Co. Detention Center)
WALHALLA, SC (FOX Carolina) -
A married couple has been charged with neglect of the man's father who died last Wednesday morning, according to Karl Addis, the Oconee County coroner.
Michael Orr, 38, and Kristin Orr 32, were both charged with neglect of a vulnerable adult with great bodily injury, according to the Walhalla Police Department. The two were arrested last Friday, police said.
According to police, an anonymous call was made which led them to do a welfare check at the victim's home.
The 72-year-old Walhalla man, Curtis Orr, was found after police heard a faint grunt coming from inside the house, police said. The victim was barely alive when police got inside, they said.
Police said the couple was in charge of the victim's care.
The man died of a heart condition, but according to the coroner, the autopsy also demonstrated signs of malnutrition, pneumonia, COPD and cerebral atrophy, which is seen in people diagnosed with dementia or Alzheimer's disease.
