COLUMBIA, SC (AP) -

The South Carolina Senate has again kept Gov. Nikki Haley from cutting funding to arts in South Carolina.

The Senate overrode vetoes Thursday of $100,000 to pay the operating costs of the South Carolina Arts Commission and the $89,000 salary for the Sea Grant Consortium. Both agencies said the vetoes would have shut them down.

The two agencies have been targeted by Haley in all three of her years in office and were rescued by the Legislature each time.

The Senate has considered 10 of the vetoes the House overrode Wednesday in the state's $6.7 billion spending plan. Senators have overridden six of them, returning the money to the budget. Thirty-two of Haley's vetoes have been sustained so far.

A two-thirds vote is needed to override the governor's vetoes.
