Deputies: shots fired during robbery, suspects on the run

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenville County deputies say they are hunting for a two armed robbers who shot up a gas station and damaged a nearby car.

Lt. Tim Ridgeway said a black Chevy Tahoe and a white truck pulled up to the Mahi Food Mart at 2400 Anderson Rd. just after 10 p.m. Friday.

Ridgeway said two masked men with guns got out of the cars and entered the gas station.

Ridgeway said the suspects took off with money from the cash register and stolen cigarettes.

The robbers fired shots inside the store, but no one was injured.

After the men ran out the back door and down the street, a woman driving by stopped to ask them what was happening.  Ridgeway said they fired a single shot into her passenger side door.

Ridgeway said the men fled got away in a dark colored SUV that stopped to pick them up.

"Luckily, there are no reports of any injuries to any people at the scene," Ridgeway said.

Tracking dogs lost the scent of the robbers.
