GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Troopers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said a vehicle struck a Greenville County deputy and two sheriff's office patrol cars Sunday morning along Cedar Lane Road.

Trooper Billy Elder said the deputy was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Jonathan Smith with the Greenville County Sheriff's Office said the crash happened at about 5:30 a.m. on Cedar Lane.

Deputies were responding to a call about a suspicious person when the collision happened, Smith said.

Elder said the driver of a Honda sedan struck the patrol cars and the collision caused one of the deputies who was stepping out of his vehicle to fall to the ground.

Both vehicles had blue lights activated at the time, Smith said.

Elder said the crash remains under investigation at this time. There is no word if the driver will face charges at this time.
