John D. Long Lake in Union County will be closed until 2015, according to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
Bass in the lake have become overpopulated and the bream population has become negatively affected, according to the DNR.
The DNR said they will be removing fish from the lake and restocking it with bream in the fall. Bass will be added in the spring when habitat enhancement will also take place, according to the DNR.
The lake and facilities will be closed to the public until July 1, 2015.
