GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenville gas prices have dropped more than 7 cents over the past week, according to the gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

After dropping 7.8 cents in the area, the average price per gallon is $3.07 in Greenville, according to GasBuddy.

GasBuddy also says the national average is down 5.7 cents per gallon over the last week, bringing the national average price to $3.50.

"After an impressive surge abated several weeks ago, we're seeing gasoline prices decline nicely," said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan.

"One in five states currently has at least one gas station with gasoline under $3/gallon. South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Ohio, Texas, New Mexico, Virginia, Indiana, and Michigan all have at least one station statewide under $3," DeHann said. "The national average is likely to continue its decline this week as retail prices catch up to the decrease in wholesale gasoline prices."
