CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Federal investigators are questioning at least one person after a "security issue" on board a Charlotte-bound flight.

Officials with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) say one person is being questioned after the plane landed at the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport on Wednesday evening.

According to US Airways officials, there was a security issue onboard US Airways Flight 114 from Boston to Charlotte.

Law enforcement officials were called to meet the plane as it landed in Charlotte.

Just before 6 p.m. on Wednesday, there was an "Alert 2" called out at the airport.  According to online flight records, the plane landed at the airport at 5:53 p.m. - nearly an hour later than scheduled.

The passengers on the plane were taken off the flight and are having to go through the screening process again at Checkpoint D.

At this time, the FBI says there are no indications there is a threat to public safety.

The flight is expected to continue on to Chicago when the flight is reboarded.

Witnesses inside the airport told WBTV they saw men in suits running through the airport.
