WESTMINSTER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Oconee County deputies said they were investigating a fatal shooting in Westminster Tuesday morning.

Deputies said they received the call about a shooting on Mt. Pleasant Road near Blackjack Road just after 7 a.m.

Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis said 21-year-old James Evan Tyner was found dead along the shoulder of Blackjack Road about 45 yards from 108 Mt. Pleasant Rd.

Shane Burdette, 34, has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of violent crime in the shooting death of Tyner, according to deputies.

Addis said Tyner, of Seneca, was shot in the neck. He said a shotgun was found lying in the yard at the Mt. Pleasant Road home.

Witnesses reported seeing Tyner run away from the home when he fell to the ground, Addis said.

The Oconee County Sheriff's Office said they will be continuing their investigation.
