GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Greenville deputy's vehicle was engulfed in flames on Interstate 385 this afternoon bringing traffic to a halt, according to deputies.

The deputy noticed his engine smoking and pulled over to the side of the road near the exit for Highway 276, according to Lt. Scott Matheny.

Matheny said the deputy saw flames coming from under the hood and called for assistance.

Within seconds the vehicle was engulfed in flames but the deputy was not injured, according to Matheny.
