SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Spartanburg police said a couple planned a robbery where they tried to steal money from a local Kangaroo store where the woman worked.
Police said they were called to the Kangaroo convenience store on East Main Street at 6:16 a.m. Tuesday where two employees reported the robbery.
One employee, identified as 21-year-old Brittany Rich, told responding officers that a man came in, took the drop bag full of cash she was holding then fled the scene on foot, police said.
According to the police report, Rich and another employee were talking at the time and Rich was supposed to count the money before it was stolen.
Police began tracking the suspect and located him walking along Maryland Avenue holding the bag of money, according to the police report. When they asked him where he lived, police said the suspect gave the same address as Rich.
After talking to Rich and the suspect, 31-year-old Zachary McCravey, they said both admitted to robbing the store and were a couple.
Rich and McCravey were arrested and charged with robbery.
