PIEDMONT, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A woman was stabbed around midnight on Wednesday after she said she was trying to help a man on the side of the road in Piedmont, according to Greenville County deputies.

Deputies said the woman saw the man on the side of the road and pulled over to see what was wrong. She said when she went back to her car to get a flashlight at the intersection of Bessie and Old Pelzer Road, the man stabbed her.

The woman was taken to the hospital.

Deputies said the woman has two minor puncture wounds in her lower abdomen.

Deputies said they were looking for a man wearing blue jeans and a white shirt. A perimeter had been set up in that area and K-9s were called out to the scene, but nothing was found.
