LAURENS, SC (FOX Carolina) -

More than a 150 volunteers are searching for a missing Laurens County woman who has not been seen since Sunday and suffers from Alzheimer's.

Laurens County deputies said 75-year-old Dorothy Madden was last seen Sunday morning on Pony Trail in the Hickory Tavern and Princeton area of Laurens County.

Madden has gray hair and was last seen wearing brown pants, a red leather jacket and was possibly carrying a purse. Deputies said she has Alzheimer's disease and may seem confused or disoriented.

A command center was set up at the intersection of U.S. 25 and U.S. 76 with search crews concentrating on a patch of woods from Trumpet Lane and 76 toward 25, according to Lt. J.D. Shelton with the Laurens County Sheriff's Office.

Shelton said they have enough volunteers for now. He said they have a minimum of 150 volunteers which include deputies and firefighters from several other counties.

Thirty-two organizations, from sheriff's departments to the Red Cross, have put over 20,000 man-hours into the search, according to Shelton.

Shelton said the groups have covered an area of 15 to 20 square miles in the their efforts.

He said searching through the woods is difficult because the area is dense and the heat is not helping search efforts.

If anyone has seen or heard anything about Madden's whereabouts, they are asked to call the Laurens County Sheriff's Office at 864-984-4967.
