The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal Greenville County crash after a moped driver died Thursday.

Troopers said the wreck happened along U.S. 276 about 10:45 p.m. near Neely Ferry Road.

A Toyota was traveling east when it was hit head-on by the moped, troopers said.

The 58-year-old driver was not wearing a helmet and died at the scene, according to the Highway Patrol.

Greenville County Deputy Coroner Barry Wright identified the moped driver as James R. Cook, of Fountain Inn.
