ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Anderson County deputies said a man shot his grandson trying to defend himself and his son, after the three got into a fight Saturday morning.

Deputies said they were called to the home of 72-year-old Carlton Aldrich on George Albert Lake Road in Anderson just before 7 a.m.

Capt. Garland Major with the Anderson County Sheriff's Office said at the home, deputies found Bradley Aldrich, 24, with cuts on his body and a gunshot to his upper left thigh.

Bradley Aldrich lives with his father, Gregory Aldrich, 51, next door to Carlton Aldrich, according to Major. All three men were outside when a fight started, Major said.

The youngest Aldrich got a knife and began cutting himself then became aggressive towards his father and grandfather, Major said. At that point, Carlton Aldrich fired a few warning shots with a pistol into the ground and the elder two Aldrichs retreated inside, deputies said.

Bradley Aldrich followed them inside, still armed with a knife, so Carlton Aldrich shot him once in the thigh to defend himself and Gregory Aldrich, Major said.

No one else was injured, deputies said.

Bradley Aldrich was taken to the hospital, and will be charged with two counts of attempted murder once he is treated and released, Major said.
