ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Search crews have located a missing 15-year-old boy after he disappeared riding his jet ski on Lake Hartwell Sunday.

Not long after a Department of Natural Resources plane began searching for the teen Monday morning, he was spotted alive, according to the boy's father.

The teen was back to his parents on a rescue boat where they awaited his arrival at Saddler's Creek State Park. Rescue spokesperson Miriam Bratcher said he was found near the Georgia side of the lake where he took shelter under a dock sitting on the jet ski.

Deputies with the Anderson County Sheriff's Office said the teen was camping with his family at the park, when their green jet ski started having motor trouble.

The family decided to have the teen ride the jet ski over to the boat ramp, so the family could remove it from the water, but the teen never showed up at the ramp.

According to the Anderson County Sheriff's Office, the family reported the teen missing just before 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

Immediately, boat crews with the Anderson County Sheriff's office, Hart County, Anderson technical rescue, and agents from South Carolina and Georgia's DNR began a land and water search.

A mobile command center was set up at the Saddler's Creek boat ramp. Volunteers with Pickens and Oconee Counties also came in to help search with boats, offering relief for many of the rescue teams who have been on scene since Sun night.

The teen's parents told officials their son is "water-savvy." Search crews said they believed the jet ski may have died and then drifted.

Bratcher said a civilian searching by boat spotted the teen sitting on the jet ski about the same time the plane spotted him. The teen was checked out by paramedics and was said to be in good condition, but hungry.
