POWDERSVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Anderson County deputies said a South Carolina Highway Patrol trooper was injured when his patrol car was hit by two cars Monday morning.

Deputies said the trooper was investigating an earlier accident along Interstate 85 northbound just past Highway 153 about 4:20 a.m. when a car hit an unoccupied car, pushing it into the trooper's car.

Deputies said the trooper was sitting in his patrol car with the emergency lights on when he was hit.

The car shoved into the trooper's car was involved in the earlier wreck, according to Capt. Garland Major with the Anderson County Sheriff's Office.

Major said the Alecia Mann, 30, from Coral Springs, FL, was driving northbound when she hit the first car. He said Mann was cited with driving too fast for conditions.

The trooper was taken to the hospital with injuries though no one else was injured, Major said.
