GREER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Two men already accused in a string of church thefts are facing more charges, according to Greenville County deputies.

Deputies said Friday that Elex Gregory, 19, and Dezmund Cohen, 19, stole from Washington Baptist Church and Pleasant Grove Baptist Church during the overnight hours of July 19.

This is around the same time Greer Police reported a series of thefts in their jurisdiction.  Police said between July 17 and July 19, Calvary Baptist Church, Lord of Glory Full Gospel Church, Victor United Methodist Church, Victor Church of Christ and Hillcrest Baptist Church were all broken into, with thieves targeting church offices in an effort to get money.

Gregory and Cohen were already in custody at the Greenville County Detention Center on the charges from Greer Police, but deputies said they ventured outside Greer's city limits to perform more burglaries.

Gregory and Cohen's new charges include two counts of second-degree burglary, two counts of malicious injury to a place of worship and petit larceny, in connection with two of the break ins.
