New business coming to downtown Wauseon

WAUSEON, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A vacant building in downtown Wauseon is getting a major upgrade as new owners renovate and lease out the space.

The building, located on the corner of Fulton and Elm Streets, has been vacant for more than a year.

The new owner says the lower level will be a motorcycle customization shop. The upper level will eventually be turned into apartments.

Other business owners in the area say they're excited about the impact this could have on the community.

"I think it's going to be great just to have more people come downtown. They're offering a product that we don't have downtown," said Marc Matheny.

Matheny is the owner of aka designs and cafe, located right by this building.

"We're glad to have somebody downtown, some new neighbors," said Matheny.

He says not only could this bring more people to the area, but he thinks it will improve the overall look and feel of downtown as well.

The new owner announced he's removing this metal, and restoring the original red brick. He's hoping to have everything done within the next few months so the new business can open to the public.
