Kidnapping case dropped against ex-Mauldin Public Works Director

MAULDIN, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The kidnapping charge against the former director of Mauldin Public Works has been dropped, according to the solicitor's office.

Marcia Barker, spokesperson for the 13th Judicial Circuit Solicitor's Office, said the kidnapping charge against William Fincher was dropped in April.

Barker said the case was dismissed because of the victim missing several meetings to speak about the case. She said the solicitor would set up a time to meet and the victim would simply not show up.

Fincher was accused of giving a job candidate a beer during a job interview then would not let her leave the property in August of 2012.

Mayor Dennis Raines said Fincher was placed on administrative leave following his arrest and then dismissed on Aug. 30.
