Manhunt underway in Simpsonville

SIMPSONVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Simpsonville Police and K-9 teams with the Greenville County Sheriff's Office are searching for a suspect, who led police on a short car chase.

Captain Kevin Threlkeld said Simpsonville officers attempted to pull over a car in the Hunter's Woods area just before 10 p.m. Thursday.

Threlkeld said the driver initially stopped, then drove off, leading officers on a short chase that ended on Willow Branch Drive, where the driver lost control of his vehicle on a curve, ran off the road, and struck a tree.

Officers said the driver ran off on foot.

Simpsonville Officers requested a K-9 from the sheriff's office to help track the suspect through the residential area.

Threlkeld said officers also found two female passengers inside the vehicle, who were transported to the hospital with injuries.

Threlkeld says officers do not consider the suspect a threat at this time, but Threlkeld advises people living in the Westwood and Hunters' Woods neighborhoods to be on alert, and to call police immediately if they notice anything suspicious.
