HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - An 18-year-old girl is facing charges after complaints that she was exposing an infant to illegal drugs.
Those allegations were reported to Horry County Police on July 10 by an employee of the Department of Social Services. That employee said she was assigned to the case of a one-year-old in the Conway area that had been removed from the home and placed in protective custody.
The child's mother, 18-year-old Cassandra Pillitteri, later admitted to being high during a DSS visit.
Drugs tests were performed on both Pillitteri and the child after DSS was notified that the mother had been "blowing marijuana smoke in the victim's face."
Pillitteri tested positive for marijuana. Her child tested positive for marijuana and cocaine.
Horry County Police arrested Cassandra Pillitteri on July 26 and charged her with unlawful neglect of a child. Her bond has not been set.
