Earthquake registered in the Upstate

ABBEVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A weak earthquake happened about four miles northwest of Due West in Abbeville County Thursday night.

The U.S. Geological Survey said it was a 1.9 magnitude earthquake that struck at 8 p.m. Thursday night.

According to the USGS, since at least 1776, people living inland in North and South Carolina, and in adjacent parts of Georgia and Tennessee, have felt small earthquakes and suffered damage from infrequent larger ones.
