Rutherford Co. deputies: medical call leads to drug arrest

FOREST CITY, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Rutherford County deputies said a call about a medical situation ended in one man's arrest.

Deputies said they were dispatched to Chiders' Truck Stop on Hwy 221 South, to assist EMS with a man who was slumped over the steering wheel and unresponsive in a car in the parking lot.

Deputies said when they woke the man up, he sped out of the parking lot and led deputies on a short chase.

When the man stopped, deputies said they found methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia in the car.

Deputies said they also found items reported stolen after two recent burglaries.

Deputies said they placed the suspect, identified as Richie Scott Allen of Forest City, in custody.

Allen faces a number of charges, including felony possession methamphetamine, driving while impaired, felony flee to elude and reckless driving.
