CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Reports of Rangers RHP Tanner Scheppers being beat up in Cleveland are all over the internet.

In the reports, it's mentioned that Scheppers wasn't in Friday's loss to Cleveland because he was dealing with the effects of being attacked on a street two blocks from his hotel.

Scheppers said he was out getting food shortly just after the team arrived when he was attacked.  He says he wasn't robbed and didn't remember what time the events took place.

To sum up the reports, it appears that Scheppers accused Cleveland Police of not filing his report and said he was told by cops that this type of thing happens a lot and it's unlikely someone would be apprehended.

19 Action News contacted the Cleveland Police Department regarding the details of the incident and we're told they are looking into the matter.  Although no other information was available, police said an incident happened at 2:30 a.m. Friday morning on W. 6th St.   Police said that they did not tell Scheppers that they would not file a report or conduct an investigation.
