HENDERSONVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -
A man died several days after he was assaulted, but Henderson County deputies say the incidents are unrelated at this time.
Anthony Gillilard, 33, reported being assaulted on Friday, and by Tuesday he was dead, according to deputies. Deputies said that his death was not the result of the assault.
Christopher Evans, 35, was charged with assault inflicting serious injury in connection with the incident and was released on $500 secured bond, according to deputies.
According to the warrant, Evans kicked Gillilard in the face, chest and ears, causing him to bleed from his nose and mouth. The assault caused loss of hearing in one ear, loss of consciousness and dizziness, according to the arrest warrant.
Deputies said the final determination to the findings into this investigation will depend upon the finalized autopsy, which has not been completed.
