HOOVER, Ala (FOX Carolina) -

Police in Hoover, AL said three girls from South Carolina were rescued from a prostitution ring during a sex trafficking crackdown by the FBI and local authorities.

The names of those children were not released. Officers said they would not reveal where the girls were from in South Carolina because they were under the age of 18.

Two people from Greenville were among the many individuals who were arrested in the nationwide crackdown this weekend.

Jermaine Williams, 32, and Veronica Melvin, 18, were taken into custody in Hoover, AL and charged with two counts of human trafficking and two counts of promoting prostitution each, according to deputies.

Captain Jim Coker of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said that booking information on Williams and Melvin indicates they are from Greenville.

Two minor female victims were rescued at the time Williams and Melvin were arrested, according to Jefferson County deputies.

"This shows the mobility of people in this kind of situation. They have crossed several state lines to get here. This case points to the need for state and federal cooperation. Information sharing is key in solving these cases," Coker said.

Two people from Columbia, SC were also arrested in the sting and a minor was rescued, according to police.
