WAYNESVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Rescue crews were able to save some horses that were trapped in a barn collapse in Waynesville.

Officials from Haywood County said an 83-year-old barn collapsed Wednesday night, trapping three horses and a dog inside.

The barn was located on 23 Queens Farm Lane at the Queens Farm Stables.

Rescue teams had to stabilize the building, before they could get to the animals.

One horse died, but two were saved. We're told the dog wasn't injured. The horses are being treated for their injuries and were expected to be OK.

Officials said the barn would finish being torn down Thursday morning.
