WALHALLA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies in Oconee County said a Walhalla man assaulted a deputy that was called to his home early Friday morning.

Bruce Alan Wilson, Sr., 38, of Rooster Drive, has been charged with breach of peace and resisting arrest with an assault on an officer, according to reports.

Deputies said they were called to the address on Rooster Drive just after 5 a.m. Friday.

Deputies said a female living at the address told them Wilson came home drunk, shoved her outside and locked her out of the house.

The female said she was concerned about her minor daughter, who was inside the house with Wilson.

When deputies arrived, Wilson told them to leave his property if they didn't have a warrant,  reports said.

Deputies said they were able to get the juvenile out of the house.

As the female and the child were leaving, deputies said Wilson became irate, shouting profanely.

When they asked him to quiet down, deputies said Wilson punched one deputy in the face, and other deputies jumped in to physically restrain and handcuff him.

After the scuffle, deputies said Wilson complained of back pain, and deputies called an ambulance to take the suspect to the hospital for observation.

Deputies said the paramedics had to pull into the parking lot of Hardee's in Walhalla because Wilson became combative again during transport.

Wilson eventually made it to the hospital, where he was observed and released into deputies' custody, according to reports. Deputies said Wilson was later booked into the Oconee County Detention Center.
