SENECA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies said they are investigating theft of several bags of baseball equipment stolen from a Sumter team's trailer while they were in the Upstate for a tournament.

Oconee County deputies said the team's coaches reported the theft at 10:50 a.m. on Saturday at the Quality Inn on Hitec Road in Seneca.

The team was in town competing in the Dixie Youth World Series, deputies said.

The gear was stored in a padlocked, enclosed trailer that was cut open, deputies said. Four bags were swiped that held catchers gear, outfielders' gloves, cleats, aluminum bats and a pair of Oakley sunglasses all worth about $9,000, according to deputies.

Another coach said his tag was stolen off his 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck along with an Igloo cooler had been taken out of the bed of his truck, deputies said.
