Director says TB not present in Laurens Co. jail

LAURENS, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A man who was incarcerated at the Johnson Detention Center in Laurens tested negative to tuberculosis after a scare, according to the jail director Chris Hudson.

Hudson said an inmate was thought to have been infected with the illness. That inmate was tested and the results were negative, according to Hudson.

Hudson said over 60 people were tested at the detention center.

The inmate who they thought was infected was brought to the hospital for testing at one point, he was found to not have the infection, according to Hudson.

Hudson said tuberculosis is not present in the jail and the inmate was returned to the detention center.
