COLUMBIA, SC (AP/FOX Carolina) -

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is looking for more troopers.

The Highway Patrol plans seven recruitment meetings across the state this month. Troopers will hold meetings at their Greenwood and Greenville locations this week.

The Department of Public Safety decided to hold the meetings because they need to fill 65 slots in the next training class, which begins in January.

Applicants must meet some qualifications. They have to be at least 21 years old with no criminal history, a clean driving record and live in South Carolina for at least a year.

Officials will discuss physical fitness standards, benefits and salaries for troopers at the meetings.

The next meeting will be Monday in Greenwood, at the Troop 2 Headquarters on Bypass 25. Troopers in Greenville are holding a meeting on Wednesday, August 14. The location of that meeting will be at Troop 3 Headquarters, at 33 Villa Road. The meetings will run from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
