Okla. attorneys seek resolution of adoption case

TULSA, Okla. (AP) -

Attorneys for the father of a 3-year-old girl at the center of an adoption battle with a South Carolina couple say they want a resolution that is in the girl's best interest.

Attorneys Clark Brewster and Robert Nigh Jr. of Tulsa represent Dusten Brown, a member of the Cherokee Nation and the biological father of Veronica.

The attorneys released a statement Wednesday that says they agree with Matt and Melanie Capobianco, who are seeking to adopt Veronica, that her best interests are the most important consideration. It says they will reach out to attorneys for the Capobiancos to see if a resolution is possible.

Brown's attorneys say they believe a determination of Veronica's best interests should be made by a court in Oklahoma, where she has lived for 19 months.
